Louis Eichhorst

January 21, 1927 — May 6, 2014

Louis E. Eichhorst, age 93, of New London, died Tuesday, May 6, at Rice Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens in Montevideo. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. www.petersonbrothers.com

Louis was born on January 31, 1921, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Louis and Mary (Hogrefe) Eichhorst. He grew up in Montevideo, graduated from Montevideo High School in 1939 and returned to work on the family farm. During World War II, Louis worked for the U.S Government at the Pentagon in Washington DC. In November of 1950, Louis was united in marriage to Marion A. Pederson and they made their home in Montevideo. Louis was employed with Northern States Power Company as an Energy Advisor and retired in 1984. Following retirement, they lived in the Spicer community. In 2003, Marion passed away. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Louis loved being in the outdoors either hunting or fishing. He had an interest in music and played the accordion, guitar and piano. Louis also cherished the times spent together with his family.

He is survived by two sons, David (and Jackie) Eichhorst of Willmar and John (and Jennifer) Eichhorst of Bolinas, CA.; four grandchildren, Brian (and Jessica) Eichhorst of New London, Brandon (Rachel) Eichhorst of Willmar, Dexter and Waverly both at home in California; six great grandchildren, Ella, Owen, Axel, Isaac, Carson and Kianna. Also surviving are three brothers-in-law, Arthur Lanes of Montevideo, Gaylord (and Margaret) Pederson of Willmar and Phil Arnold of Broken Arrow, OK and two sisters-in-law, Marsha (and Paul) Bueide of Scottsbluff, NE. and Ione Pederson of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Ervin and three sisters, Alice, Elsie and Louise.
