Louis R. Steffens, age 65, of Willmar, died Wednesday, March 12, at Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Louis Roland Steffens was born May 12, 1948, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Louis and Anna (Peters) Steffens. He grew up and received his education in Clara City and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. In 1968, he married Karen Wiehr and they made their home in Clara City. Louis was employed as a painter at Tebben Manufacturing for 22 years. In 1993, they divorced and he moved to Redwood Falls. Louis then worked in security at Firefly Creek Casino until his retirement in 1995. He also sang in the country band Leather & Lace for many years. In 2007, he moved to Willmar.
Louis enjoyed drawing, singing, hunting and flying. He had a great sense of humor and was a good, loving father. He cared deeply for his children, grandchildren, pets and Tammy.
He is survived by his fiance, Tammy McGovern; three children, Mark (and Amanda) Steffens of Willmar, Mindy Link of Kerkhoven, and Missy Steffens of Willmar; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Ronnie (and Dianne) Steffens of Renville, and Arnie Steffens of Clara City; besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Clarence; and a granddaughter, Haley.
