Louise E. Stromert, age 87, of Willmar, died Friday evening, May 4, at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home Activity Room with a time of fellowship to follow the service from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Private interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Louise Emma Stromert was born on March 25, 1925, in Weymouth, Mass., the eldest of three daughters of Mary E. (Kennedy) and Ernest W. Blinn. After her mother died in 1928, they lived at St. Vincent's Orphanage in Fall River, Mass. for a number of years. Louise graduated from high school in Jamaica Plain, Mass. She met Lloyd B. Stromert while he was stationed in Boston with the U.S. Navy. They were married on February 14, 1946, in Willmar, Minnesota. Louise was a mother and homemaker but worked several part-time jobs after Lloyd died on July 30, 1970. She last worked as a teacher's aide at Lincoln School in Willmar from 1995-1997.
Louise loved playing golf and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She was a member of the Willmar Golf Club and Valley Golf. Louise was also a member of the Willmar Does and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by daughter, Nancy Dahline of Kandiyohi; son, Bruce Stromert of Willmar; two grandchildren, Paula (and Dan) Emberland and their daughters, Amanda and Emily Buer of Willmar and Chad (and Denise) Dahline and their daughter, Jordan of Cottonwood, CA. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Inge Stromert of Eatonville, WA., besides many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; son-in-law, Dave Dahline, and two sisters, Shirley Walsh and Ruth McCarthy.
