Mable M. Christensen, age 88, of Willmar, died Saturday morning, July 26th, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Services will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, July 30th, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Willmar with Rev. David Rogers officiating. The interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M., Tuesday, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Mable Mary Christensen was born on October 13, 1919, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, the daughter of Anita (Horsch) and Albert A. Cory. She grew up in that area and graduated from West High School in Minneapolis. On September 4, 1937, she was married to Raymond Louis Christensen at the English Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park. Mable and Raymond celebrated their 70th Anniversary last year. They made their home in St. Louis Park until 1949 when they moved to Willmar. Mable was a homemaker and worked for JC Penny until her retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and provided refreshments for departing serviceman and women for many years. Mable was an active member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, was a Sunday School teacher and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She loved knitting, sewing, crocheting and was an excellent cook. Her apple pie was exceptional and she was an avid Scrabble and crossword puzzle player. Her pride and joy were her children and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. "May God now hold her in His loving arms as we celebrate their grand reunion in heaven".
Mable is survived by her children; Raymond Jr. (and Janice) Christensen of Beaumont, Texas, Michael (and Jane) Christensen of San Marcos, California, George (and Colleen) Christensen of Willmar, Barbara Boike (and special friend, Alan Stockland) of Willmar, and Mark (and Diane) Christensen of St. Peter. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Raymond in March of this year) and 1 son and daughter-in-law; Rodney and Lorraine Christensen
