Mae L. Freeberg, age 84, of Willmar, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 6, at her residence.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, at Svea Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Mae Lavonne Freeberg was born on May 31, 1936, near Willmar in Whitefield Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albin and Amy (Johnson) Freeberg and the youngest of 7 children (3 brothers and 3 sisters). Mae attended country school and later earned her GED. She made her home on the family farm and was a homemaker for her brothers. Mae was a member of Svea Lutheran Church and active in women's circle and quilting group. Mae was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile and Rice Hospital. She enjoyed the country living lifestyle, cooking, baking, reading and western movies.
She is survived by one sister, Alvie Gieseke of Minneapolis; two nieces, Jean (and Chuck) Stranberg of Atwater and Lori (and Rick) Tate of Minneapolis; two nephews, Clare Hanson of St. Cloud and Steve (and Beth) Gieseke of Minneapolis; numerous great nieces and great nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Fern Hanson and Alice Herrman; and three brothers, Earl “Bill”, Harry and John Freeberg.
