Marie A. Boettcher, age 90, of Willmar, died Thursday, October 22, at the Anoka Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Friday, October 23, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marie Alma Boettcher was born February 25, 1919, in Grafton, Ohio, to William and Anna (Hippen) Bongs. She was baptized in Ohio and moved with her family to Raymond, Minnesota in 1922. She received her education in Raymond and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. On September 18, 1940, she married Arnold Boettcher at the St. John's Lutheran Church parsonage and they made their home in Willmar. In March of 2009, Marie entered the Rice Care Center and in June of 2009, she moved to the Anoka Care Center, Marie was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1941. She delivered sermon tapes and bulletins to shut-ins, babysat for the Christian Women Organization and was a member of the Martha Guild and Senior Silver Ages. She was also a member of the Willmar Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and also enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting and baking.
She is survived by three sons: Roger (and Barree) Boettcher of Andover, Douglas (and Doreen) Boettcher of Spring Lake Park and Dennis (and Rita) Boettcher of Owatonna; a daughter: Sharalyn (and John) Pfaff of Elk River; thirteen grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; a brother: William (and Vonda) Bongs of Brainerd; two sisters: Gertrude Heida of Raymond and Verna Jydstrup of Raymond; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Arnold in 1985; three sisters: Marilyn Bongs, Erna Erickson and Lucille Robertson and one great grandson, Riley Boettcher..
