Marion Rime

Marion J. Rime, age 92, of Spicer, died Saturday evening, June 17, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be in the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Marion Janet Rime was born March 30, 1925, in Pennock, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Caroline (Kallevig) Thonvold. Marion attended school in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1943. On October 18, 1946, she married Lester 'Swen" Rime at Zion Lutheran Church in Spicer and they made their home in Spicer. Marion was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she was active with circle, altar guild, and helped prepare the church newsletter. She was also a member of the Spicer American Legion Auxiliary and Little Crow Country Club, where they hosted the Rime Open for many years. Marion had resided at Bethesda Grand in Willmar for the past several months.

Marion was an excellent cook and baker and usually made extras to share with others. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and quilting and made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Marion had a gift for hospitality and enjoyed socializing with family and friends.

She is survived by four children, Tony (and Sue) Rime of Spicer, Karen (and Dave) Kosse of Poolville, TX, Judy (and Bob) Dickhoff of Belgrade, and Carol (and Scott) Nelson of Litchfield; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, DeAlton (and Donna) Rime of Willmar; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Swen; a daughter, Nancy Rime; a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Dickhoff; and her eleven siblings.
