Marion E. Zurn, age 80, of Willmar and formerly of Raymond, died unexpectedly Friday morning, June 11, at the Rice Care Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Marion was born on May 26, 1930, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Caroline (Carlson) Emberland. She grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church and graduated from Willmar High School in 1948. On August 26, 1955, Marion was united in marriage to Loyle "Bud" Zurn and they made their home in the Raymond community. Over the years Marion was employed at Rice Hospital, Munsingwear Company in Minneapolis, Clara City Nursing Home and for over 20 years at Jennie-O Foods, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was active in the church womens activities.
Marion enjoyed reading, playing bingo, arts and music. She was an avid sports fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Marion was also proud of her Norwegian Heritage.
She is survived by her three children, Sandi (and Gary) Hentges of Atwater, Larry (and Jayne) Zurn of Cambridge and Tom (and Marty) Zurn of Cape Cod, Mass; and seven grandchildren, Erin and Nicole Hentges, Jenna, Kendra and Jordan Zurn and Kylie and Sam Zurn, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud in 1974; four brothers, Kelley, Gordon, Earling and Maynard; and two sisters, Margrete Fostervold and Gladys Kellor.
