Marjorie T. Carlsona�"Gruber, age 93, of Paynesville and formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday morning, August 27, at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, at Vinje Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Marjorie Theadora Carlson-Gruber was born on March 1, 1921, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Thorwald and Cecelia (Sletten) Thorson. She grew up in Minneapolis, graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis in 1939 and then attended business school in Willmar. On November 14, 1941, Marjorie was married to Charles Eldon Carlson and they made their home in Willmar. She was employed at Woolworths as a clerk and as a secretary in medical records at Rice Hospital. In 1960, they moved to a farm near Atwater and Marjorie worked for Holm Brothers Plumbing and Heating as a secretary and then at Northern Gas Company, retiring in 1986. Eldon died in 1992. On September 11, 1998, Marjorie was united in marriage to Leo John Gruber and they made their home in Willmar. She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church, the Shrine Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Sons of Norway. In 2012, they both moved to the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.

Marjorie enjoyed music and played in a rhythm band called the Merry Widows and sang in her church choir, the Sons of Norway Choir and the Senior Choir at the Willmar Senior Citizens Center. She also enjoyed crafts, fancy needle work and visiting numerous casinos. Blessed be her memory!

She is survived by her husband, Leo Gruber of Paynesville; a sister, Joyce (and John) Arver of Roseville; six grandchildren, Bradley Carlson, Tanya Dickie, Luke Carlson, Olivia May, Cheryl Carlson and Janelle Carlson; and many great grandchildren. Also surviving are stepchildren, Jim Gruber, Renee Kalthoff, Eileen Bayer, LaVonne Stang, Mary Jo Stanger, Susan Kubitschek, Jerry Gruber, Joan Kuefler and Julie Miller; many stepgrandchildren and step-great grandchildren and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elden; both of her sons, Bradley and David Carlson, and one brother, Orrin Thorson.
