Marjorie L. Dickman, age 90, of rural Spicer, formerly of Hector, passed away Friday afternoon, September 23rd, at her home on Green Lake surrounded by her loving family.
A private memorial service will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Marjie's wishes would be to donate to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are with the Green Lake Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Spicer.
Marjorie LaVonne Dickman was born on April 15, 1921 in Bird Island, Minnesota, the daughter of Emma (Putizer) and Engval Johnson. She grew up in Crookston, graduating from Crookston High School in 1938 and from the University of Minnesota in 1942. She completed her masters degree in Dietetics at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, in 1943. On July 6, 1945 she married Charles Richard Dickman in Crookston and they made their home in Hector where they raised four children. In 1981, they moved to Green Lake near Spicer. She was a member of the Hector Methodist Church where she was a leader of the Methodist Women and the M.Y.F. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Great Books Club and Red Hats. Marjorie and Charles established the Dickman Foundation in 1988. She enjoyed reading, swimming, dancing, walking and watching sunsets with family and friends. Marjorie was very proud of her children and their accomplishments and dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by one son; Karl (and Betsy) Dickman of Shoreview and three daughters; Mary (and Tom) O'Malley of Spicer, Jane Dickman of Spicer, and Ann (and Ron) Ploeger of Litchfield. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one brother; Walter (and Bobbi) Johnson of Stillwater and one sister; Geneive Youngdale of Palm Desert, CA., besides other relatives and friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Charles R. Dickman in 2007), one brother ( Roger Johnson) and one sister (Virginia Dopp).
