Marjorie "Bonnie" A. Mohr, age 84, of Atwater, died Saturday evening, September 6th, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Services will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, September 10th, at the St. John Lutheran Church in rural Atwater with Rev. Christian Strickland officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Atwater Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the services. Memorials are preferred to the St. John Lutheran Church or Bethesda Heritage Pet Therapy Program.
Marjorie Alma Mohr was born on December 27, 1923 in Palmyra Township, Renville County, Minnesota, the daughter of Anna C. (Ruden) and Henry Thode. She grew up on the family farm and attended the rural school in that area. Bonnie was baptized in Hector, Minnesota, on July 7, 1924 and was confirmed at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bird Island on October 18, 1936. She worked on the family farm until she married Frans Rosenquist in Bird Island and they made their home on the farm south of Atwater. Frans died in 1963 and Bonnie moved to the Grove City area. On November 18, 1967, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater, she married Jimmie Theodore Mohr and they made their home on the farm north of Atwater. She had been a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater and has been a member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1967. Bonnie also worked at Molenaar Plastics from 1969 until her retirement in 2002. For the past two years, Bonnie has resided at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. She enjoyed traveling, taking bus trips, collecting cookbooks, baking and playing games. Bonnie had a real competitive spirit and loved the competition. She loved being with family and friends, especially shopping for Christmas gifts and looking at jewelry. She also enjoyed dancing and country music. Bonnie also loved the Christmas season, the decorating, the music and the love of family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Frans (and Deborah) Rosenquist of Atwater and one daughter, Charlot (and LeRoy) Remmel of Grove City. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three sisters, Evangeline Helin of Bird Island, Lois Hedlund of Atwater and Vivian (and Louis) Hedlund of Minneapolis and one sister-in-law, Lucille Thode of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands (Frans Rosenquist in 1963 and Jimmie Mohr in 2005) and one son (Lanny Rosenquist), two grandsons, daughter-in-law (Marilyn Klatt) and one brother (Howard Thode).
