Marjorie Sordahl

Marjorie Reneigh Sordahl, 91, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, March 7, at Rice Care Center in Willmar, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 11, at Crow River Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, March 10, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marjorie was born December 17, 1918, on the north shore of Green Lake, where the Olde Mill Inn is currently located, to Olaf R. and Maude K. (Adams) Hokom. She grew up on a farm in Burbank Township and received her education from rural schools and New London High School. On April 5, 1942, she married Edmund Sordahl at her father's house in rural New London. They lived and farmed in various areas of Kandiyohi County until the fall of 1964, when they moved to Willmar. Marjorie worked at Jennie-O Foods and later owned and operated Ann's Cafe in downtown Willmar. She also worked as a cook for Bethesda Homes. She retired in 1980. Marjorie was a member of Crow River Lutheran Church and was active with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed needlework, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three sons: LeRoy (and Jean) Sordahl of New London, Ivan (and Marilee) Sordahl of Willmar and John (and Cynthia) Sordahl of Willmar; three daughters: Betty Cole of Willmar, Mary (and Ed) Keyser of St. Cloud and Ramona Skornicka (and special friend, JR Hankerson) of Willmar; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and one sister: Olive Hokom of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Edmund Sordahl in 1997; two sisters: Helen and Florence; one brother: Ivan; and four grandchildren: Adam, Reneigh, Vernon and Robin.
