Mark Richard Hamilton, 53, of rural Benson, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, August 29, at his home.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 7, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar with Rev. Rocky Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Mark was born April 29, 1959, in Mobridge, South Dakota, the son of Richard and Joann (Larson) Hamilton. He graduated from Willmar High School and attended the University of Minnesota-Morris, University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas. On November 10, 1979, he married Mary Arnold at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota. They later divorced. Mark worked in Willmar as a brakeman for Burlington Northern Railroad. He then moved to Minneapolis in 1982, where he worked as an engineer. In 1985, he was promoted to assistant train master and moved to the Duluth-Superior area. He relocated to the central Minnesota area in the early 1990's.
He is survived by his daughter: Heather Hamilton of St. Louis Park; two brothers: Michael Hamilton of Benson and Paul (and Patricia) Hamilton of Sartell; and his nieces and nephews: Arie, Grant, Edward and Joanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard and Joann Hamilton; and grandparents: Edward and Ann Hamilton, and Melvin and Adeline Larson.
