Mark S. Sundlee, 57, of Willmar, died Wednesday afternoon, August 17, at Rice Care Center in Willmar following an extended illness.
A Celebration of Mark's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 22, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to Rice Care Center or Rice Hospice.
Mark Steven Sundlee was born May 20, 1954, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Merrill and Shirley (Saue) Sundlee. He grew up in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1972. Mark attended the University of Minnesota-Morris. He returned to Montevideo and worked at Western Printers. In 2000, he moved to Willmar and worked at BCR and attended Ridgewater College, graduating in 2009.
Mark was a kind and caring man with a great sense of humor. He loved to tease others, especially his sister. He had wonderful memories of his childhood years growing up in the Ramsey School neighborhood of Montevideo. He enjoyed all sports and loved watching the Twins and Vikings. He also loved completing crossword puzzles. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends and greatly enjoyed all of the people who cared for him at Rice Care Center.
Mark is survived by his mother: Shirley Sundlee of Willmar; a sister: Pam (and Chris) Meinert of Willmar; nephews: Justin (and Lindsey) Nelson of Brooklyn Park and SPC Brett Nelson currently stationed at Fort Bragg, NC (and girlfriend, Leslie Marcus); nieces: Danielle Meinert of Willmar and Nicole (and Andrew) Plowman of Willmar; a grandnephew: Cayson Plowman; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Merrill in 2009; and an infant brother: Larry; and his grandparents.
