Marlene Darlene Flegel, age 72, of Willmar, died Monday morning, June 19, at Rice Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 21, at Vinje Lutheran Church with Rev. Barbara Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, June 20, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marlene was born on March 27, 1934, on the family farm near Fredonia, North Dakota, the daughter of Robert and Ida (Krueger) Hehr. She attended rural school, graduated from Kulm High School and Valley City State Teachers College. On July 25, 1954, she was married to York Flegel. They lived in Havana, ND., Veblen, SD., Raymond and Willmar. Marlene taught rural school in the Dakota's for two years, raised their children and then worked at Thompson's Ladies Fashions. She was an active member of Vinje Lutheran Church. Marlene enjoyed Flower Gardens, cooking, shopping and being with her grandchildren, family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, York of Willmar; three children, Renae (and Michael) Tostenson of Milan, Laurie (and Randy) Frahm of Minnetonka and Robert (and Shawn) Flegel of Willmar; five grandchildren, Kari Tostenson, Jacob and Johanna Frahm and Taylor and Trenton Flegel. Also surviving are four siblings, Milbert Hehr of Port Angles, WA., Edna (and Jerry) Tefft of Hayden, ID., Lemore (and Joan) Hehr of Fredonia, ND., and Roger (and Barb) Hehr of Plant City, FL., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Raymond Hehr and one sister, Florence Ruff
