Marlin R. Braland, age 80, of Willmar, died Thursday evening, Oct. 27, at the Bethesda Heritage Center.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Vinje Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Hawick. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Memorials to Vinje Lutheran Church or donor's choice are preferred.
Marlin Russell Braland was born on March 2, 1931, on the family farm along the northwest shore of Lake Calhoun, the son of Martin and Rose Ann (Solbrack) Braland. He grew up in the rural Hawick community and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. The family later moved into Willmar. Following Marlin's parents death, he has lived at the Bethesda Country Home, Bethesda Heritage Center, Kindlehope and the Divine House. Marlin has been employed for many years at the DAC in Kandiyohi.
Marlin had an excellent memory. He enjoyed fishing, walking, boating and joking around. He loved holidays and being with his friends and family.
He is survived by two sisters, Orella Brickheimer of Brainerd and Aileen Spencer of Slaughter, LA., besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin and one sister, Alice.
