Marlys Olson

Marlys J. Olson, age 86, of rural New London, died Friday afternoon, January 4, surrounded by her loving family at home.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.  A private interment will be held at a later date. www.petersonbrothers.com

Marlys Joyce (Isaacson) Olson was born on July 14, 1932, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred and Inez (Franzen) Isaacson.  She grew up in the Willmar area and attended Willmar High School, graduating in 1950.  On November 18, 1950, Marlys was united in marriage to Chuck Olson and they made their home in Willmar, initially sharing 68 years together.  Marlys loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening, cooking and baking.  You could always count on a good meal and baked goods in her kitchen.

She is survived by her loving husband, Chuck Olson of New London; three children, Mike (and Gail) Olson of New London, Cynthia Olson of Streamwood, IL., and Gary (and Jamie) Olson of Atwater; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Larson in 2016.
