Martha "Marty" A. Carver, 68, of New London, died Sunday, July 22, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar following a gallant battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in New London. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Martha Ann Carver was born on August 5, 1943 in Springfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Cecil Eldon and Esther Emily (Dagner) Carver. She grew up and received her education in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1962. Marty worked for Wanderalls in Willmar for a time and after her mother's death in 1978, she maintained the family home for her brother, George and her uncle Leonard. She moved to Hector and worked there until 1993. Marty met her partner and friend, Dona Rotter and they lived in St. Paul and Marty worked at Guidant Medical. In 2002, they moved to Bemidji and she worked for Luckins Grocery and part time for Home Depot. They moved to Spicer in 2010 and Marty worked for a short time for Epitopix in Willmar. She retired and they moved to New London in 2011, where they have lived since. Her employers found her as an a bright person and an asset to their company. Marty was a very caring person and her wonderful personality made her fun to be around. She loved to visit and at times was full of friendly mischief. Her laughter got everyone going and she was a very special to everyone who crossed paths with her.
She is survived by her long time friend, Dona Rotter of New London and five brothers: Charles Carver of Spicer, John (and Vicki) Carver of New London, James (and Dorothy) Carver of Marshall, Richard (and Donna) Carver of Atwater and Frank (and Elizabeth) Davis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, besides other relatives and friends.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Cecil and George Carver, twin brother and sister in infancy, Thomas and Carol Carver and one sister-in-law, Margaret Carver.
