Marvin Brogren

Marvin W. Brogren, 86, of Willmar, died Sunday evening, October 27, at his home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, at the First Covenant Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Willmar American Legion Post #167. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marvin Wayne Brogren was born on August 22, 1927, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Oscar J. and Anna H. (Greenfield) Brogren. He grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1947. He played on the Willmar Varsity hockey team that played in the Minnesota State Hockey Tournament. In 1950, Marvin was drafted into the U.S. Army and served overseas during the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1952, he attended the auto mechanic program at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. In 1953, he was employed at Sand's Wheel and Brake Service in Willmar. On July 17, 1959, Marvin was united in marriage to Sharon R. Harvey and they made their home in Willmar. In 1968, Marvin began employment as custodian at the Kandiyohi County Court House and Jail. He was an active member of the First Covenant Church and served as a trustee, treasurer and usher. Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He was an avid Minnesota sports fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 54 years, Sharon; one son, Wayne (and Milissa) Brogren of Atwater and two grandchildren, Ava and Cate. Also surviving are two siblings, Doris (and Harley) Jensen of Burnsville and Harlan (and Ruth) Brogren of Salem, NC., besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
