Mary JoAnne Erickson, 68, of Willmar, died Thursday, March 15, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.
Mary was born November 26, 1943, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Roger and Lorraine (Olson) Van Ort. She grew up and received her education in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1962. Mary worked at Northwestern Bell and the Willmar Regional Treatment Center before beginning a 32 year career at Rice Memorial Hospital. She retired from Rice in 2007 as the head of admissions.
Mary liked to read and collect cookbooks. She would help anyone she could, especially looking out for her children and grandchildren whom she adored.
Mary is survived by two sons: Randy Erickson of Willmar and Daniel (and Nichole) Erickson of Montgomery; two grandchildren: Kori Jade Erickson and Luke Michael Erickson; two sisters: Judy (and James) Rasmussen of Colorado Springs, CO and Kristine Van Ort of Belgrade; a sister-in-law: Carol Van Ort of Hutchinson; her nieces and nephews: Jason (and Lisa) Rasmussen, Joy (and Joseph) Fine, Shane Rasmussen, Krystal Stern, Matthew Stern and Shannon Van Ort; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Michael Van Ort; and a nephew: Lucas Stern.
