Mary Anne Gunderson, age 57, of rural Atwater and formerly of Milan, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kandiyohi with Fr. Anthony J. Stubeda officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. with Parish Prayers at 5:30 P.M. on Friday, Feb. 9, at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
Mary was born on October 4, 1949, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy (Palmer) Tomashek. She grew up in Redwood Falls and Hutchinson and in 1965, moved to Willmar where she graduated from the Willmar High School in 1967. On February 22, 1969, she was united in marriage to Roger Allen Gunderson and they made their home in Milan for over 19 years. Mary was employed as a Bookkeeper for the Milan School District and was an active volunteer in the Milan community. In 1988, they moved to Diamond Lake and Mary was employed as the office manager at the Kandi Works D.A.C. in Atwater. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Mary enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards, entertaining family and friends at the lake with pontoon rides and bon fires. She also loved being a grandmother and was proud of her children. Mary showed an unconditional love to everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Roger of Atwater; four children, Chad (and Gail) Gunderson of Willmar, Brooks (and Krista) Gunderson of Paynesville, Angela Gunderson (and fiance, Mike Burke) of Sioux Falls, SD., and Brandan (and Amy) Gunderson of Waite Park, and six grandchildren, Eli, Adi, J.T., Brennen and Connor Gunderson and Lincoln Burke. Also surviving is one brother, Thomas (and Laura) Tomashek of New Ark, DE., and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
