Mary Jane Van Der Pol, age 65, of Raymond, died Friday, January 24, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 31, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org) or Children of the Promise (childrenofthepromise.org).
Mary was born February 2, 1948, in Madison, Minnesota, the daughter of Emil and Marjorie (Richard) Vonderharr. She grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison High School in 1966. Following high school she began working for the Minnesota Unemployment office in Willmar. On July 15, 1972, she married Jeryl L. Van Der Pol and they made they home near Raymond. Mary later went back to school at the Granite Falls Vo-Tech. She then began working for Woodland Centers in Willmar as a purchasing agent and doing dictation. She retired in January 2013.
Mary loved to read, sew and quilt. She made many dresses for Haitian orphans and for other charities and sewed costumes for the Renaissance Festival. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Willmar Area Food Shelf.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jeryl of Raymond; three children: Jeff (and Carisa) Van Der Pol of Kennewick, WA, Brian Van Der Pol of Bemidji, and Jodi (and Shawn) Autrey of Eight Mile, AL; five grandchildren, Grant, Violet, Katherine, Isabella, and Lydia; two brothers: Paul (and Linda) Vonderharr of Nashville, TN, and Jerry (and Darleen) Vonderharr of Shakopee; four sisters; Janet (and Michael) Wagner of Eden Prairie, Pat (and Don) Zoll of Dubuque, IA, Peggy (and Chuck) Kranz of Big Stone City, SD, and Lori Vonderharr of Sanger, CA; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
