Mary I. Whitley, age 78, of Murdock, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan, 22, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mary Irene Whitley was born on April 17, 1941, in Morrilton, Arkansas, the daughter of Orville and Bertha (McGee) Evans.  She grew up and received her education in Morrilton.  In 1959, Mary was united in marriage to James Edward Whitley who had a career in the U.S. Army and was a Korean and Viet Nam War Veteran.  They lived in Texas, Alaska, Arkansas and North Carolina.  Mary was employed for over 20 years manufacturing automotive carburetors, retiring in 2006.  Following James’s death in 2014, she moved to Murdock, Minnesota to live with her daughter and son-in-law.  Mary was a hard worker.  She loved her family and had a strong Faith in the Lord.

She is survived by two children, Darlene (and Craig) Willprecht of Murdock and Danny (and Laura) Whitley of Kerkhoven; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, David and four sisters, Iva Jo, Martha, Sharon and Joyce.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Darrell and Johnny; and several siblings.
