Mary Margaret Wiese,
Age 59 passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring.
Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Mary Wiese, 59 of Richmond will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 713 12th St. SW in Willmar. A merry fest with tasty food, lively conversation, laughter, and fun will follow the service.
Mary was born October 2, 1952 in Willmar, Minnesota to Walter and Ernestine (Merkel) Kokesch. Mary was raised in Willmar, graduated from Willmar High School, and earned a degree from Concordia College in St. Paul, MN.
She married Thomas Wiese at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willmar on September 8, 1973.
Mary and Tom owned Daisyfields Floral in Willmar prior to her employment with Northwestern Bell and AT&T in St. Cloud. Mary then became a Career Counselor for Stearns-Benton Employment and Training Council, a job she held until her recent retirement.
A creative expert with a sewing machine, Mary enjoyed completing many projects for her friends and family. As a member of "La Table," she used her talents to help raise funds to benefit the Minnesota chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mary was also a member of Laureate Omicron, a St. Cloud chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International. A devoted wife and loving mother, Mary also cherished her role as a hockey mom.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Wiese of Richmond, MN; son, Andrew Wiese of Minneapolis, MN; mother, Ernestine Kokesch of Willmar, MN; sister, Karen Hanson (Don) Hanson of Rice, MN; brother, Paul of Danube, MN; mother-in-law, Nettie Wiese of Hancock, MN; sister-in-laws, Sandy Pahl (Delven) of Hancock, MN and Susan (Lyle) Gregerson of Starbuck, MN and many other relatives and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, Walter Kokesch of Willmar, MN and father-in-law, Joseph Wiese of Hancock, MN.
The family of Mary Weise would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud Hospital Hospice, and Assumption Home in Cold Spring for their compassionate care of Mary.
In life, Mary was not one of those people you met once and forgot. So while she is no longer here with us on earth, we ask that her radiant persona, kind nature, and fun loving ways be not forgotten. May her spirit and sparkle live on.
The family requests memorials to The Mary Wiese Fund of Visual Arts Minnesota. Contributions can be made at the funeral or sent to 10405 Ferry Point Place NW, Rice, MN 56367. Mary was pleased to know a memorial would be established in her honor to support programs she had enjoyed in life. These programs will encourage women to continue exploring and expressing their creativity.
