Mervin Gronseth

July 21, 1918 — April 27, 2007

Mervin A. Gronseth, age 88, of Willmar, died Friday morning, April 27, at the Rice Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2 P.M. at the Vinje Lutheran Church with Rev. Barbara Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post # 167 of Willmar. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Mervin Gronseth was born on July 21, 1918, at Donnybrook, ND, the son of Marie and Andrew Gronseth. He grew up in the rural Kerkhoven community, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and in 1939, graduated from the Kerkhoven High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, in the Pacific Theater, during World War II. On August 10, 1942, in Sunburg, he was married to Gunhild C. Stockland. For many years he was employed by the Gamble Robinson Company as a truck driver, retiring about 1983. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion. His hobbies and interests included watching television, baseball, reading, hunting, fishing and especially dancing with his wife in earlier years.

He is survived by his wife, Gunhild; a brother, Lester (and Irene) Gronseth of Bemidji; and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
