MICHAEL A. ENOS
April 16,1956-August 19, 2024
Michael A. Enos passed on peacefully at home. Present were his brother Bob, his sister-in-law Raye, and his pets, dog Daisy and cat Buster
Michael was born in Wareham, MA, and resided in Sagamore Beach, MA with his parents, Joselyn and Robert, from 1959-97. Having survived his mother/primary caregiver "Jos", Michael embarked on his journey towards independent living, with his brother at his side. The two were inseparable for 27 years. Michael served his communities as a member of the Lions Clubs for 30 years, for which he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship award for his untiring fundraising efforts, a source of great pride.
Michael was afflicted with a genetic disease called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, which created a very stormy health situation his entire life. TSC is a multi-organ disease which is the leading genetic cause of epilepsy and autism. A brain surgery at age 11 left Michael with partial paralysis, epilepsy, and cognitive impairment for the rest of his life. Despite these challenges, Michael, along with his service dogs, became widely known as someone with great courage, an irrepressible smile, and boundless love for his fellow man.
He was an avid swimmer for 30 years, often seen with brother Bob in a swimming pool, where he swam a half-mile of laps, twice a week. His Boston-area doctors considered him a walking miracle.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother Joselyn, father Robert, and service dogs Magnum, Joni, and Kabob.
Surviving Michael are his brother Bobby and sister-in-law Raye of Willmar, MN, and a sister Jayne of Boston, MA. He will be interred alongside his parents at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in a private service.
Prior to his death, Michael consigned his brain tissue for research to the Brain and Tissue Research Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. For those interested in memorials, Michael would be most pleased by his friends offering an extra smile each day to at least one complete stranger.
