Michael Nelson

Michael D. Nelson, age 43, of Willmar, formerly of Atwater, died Saturday near New London.
Services will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, March 1st, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater with Rev. Daniel Belgum-Blad officiating. The interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Atwater. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. at the Atwater Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Michael Dennis Nelson was born on March 22, 1964 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Lois (Wolter) and Ronald Allen Nelson. He grew up in St. Louis Park and graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1983. Mike then attended Hennepin County Technical College and received a two year degree in auto mechanics. He moved to Atwater area in 1985 and worked as an auto mechanic at several different businesses in the area. In June of 2007, he moved to Willmar and was employed at Jergenson Auto Repair. Mike was a member of the River Runners 4 Wheelers Club and the Atwater Threshers Association. He loved helping other people, he was always there to help and Mike also enjoyed working part time on his cousin's farm in Atwater.
He is survived by one sister, Shelly (and Dean) Wenberg of Plymouth and many cousins. Also surviving is his stepmother, Elaine Nelson of Atwater, three stepbrothers, Gary (and Carmen) Stradtmann of Atwater, Scott (and Jody) Stradtmann of Litchfield, Mark (and Kris) Stradtmann of Glencoe, three stepsisters, Joan Kottke of Glencoe, Patty (and Ray) Robb of Glencoe and Lisa Wurzberger of St. Cloud, aunts and uncles; Arthur (and Sandy) Nelson of Atwater, Marie Nelson of Kandiyohi, Joan Nelson of Atwater, Marge Nelson of Atwater and Dennis (and Diane) Dummer of St. Louis Park, besides other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two uncles (Howard and Robert Nelson) and one aunt (Gloria Keuseman).
