Mildred was born on May 22, 1921, in Lake Andrew Township, the daughter of Minnie (Harbo-Johnson) and Martin Syverson. Mildred grew up on the family farm in Lake Andrew Township, the youngest of four children. She was confirmed in the Norwegian language at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church, New London. On July 17, 1953, she married Carroll Evenson. They lived in Minot, North Dakota for a short time and then moved to Willmar where they owned and operated a small Cafe and Service station. In later years, Carroll became a self-employed carpenter and Millie stayed home to raise their two children, Simone and Grayson. When the children were in grade school, she worked part-time at Pleasant View Nursing Home as a dietary aid. She liked to spend time in her flower garden and have coffee with her sisters and brother when they would come to town to visit. In December of 1979, Mildred had a stroke and moved into Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home. She had many friends and relatives come to visit which she enjoyed a great deal. She made many friends from her years at the nursing home. She enjoyed chapel services every Sunday morning and participated in many activities at the home and served on the Residents Council.
She is survived by husband, Carroll Evenson; two children, Simone (and David) Rambow of Cologne, Grayson Evenson (and special friend, Renae Giinthir) of Willmar; four grandchildren, Kyle, Kory and, Katelyn Rambow and Bronson Evenson. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Arthur and two sisters, Rose Nordstrom and Marion French.
