Mildred Ruter

March 19, 1930 — October 4, 2012

Mildred "Millie" H. Ruter, age 82, of Willmar, died Thursday evening, October 4, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, October 8 at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church.
Mildred Hannah (Skoglund) Ruter was born March 19, 1930 in Willmar, Minnesota to Hannah (Johnson) and David Skoglund. She was baptized on April 30, 1934 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar and was confirmed there on October 13, 1946. On November 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Henry George Ruter at Bethel Lutheran Church and they made their home in Willmar. Millie worked as a waitress at the Puritan Cafe and later at the lunchroom at Jennie-O Foods. Millie was a loving wife, wonderful mom, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family and it was very important for her to stay connected with them by phone, visits , attending every family activity and sporting event. She always had hugs and kisses for everyone. Millie wanted to be involved in her families lives and was extremely kind and compassionate to all she met. Her wonderful sense of humor and cheerfulness will always be remembered and missed. Millie and Henry always found time for others and that included friends, family and strangers or should we say "new friends". She enjoyed camping with the family, cooking, baking and gardening.
She is survived by her five children: Marlene Freeman of Apple Valley, Lily (and Mark) Ruplinger of Willmar, Deborah (and Richard) Otte of Spicer, Douglas (and Lisa) Ruter of Willmar and Sharon (and Jon) Rambow of Willmar. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren: Matthew and Molly Freeman, Heidi (and Jay) Magnuson, Amy (and Aaron) Zwagerman, Adam (and Heather) Ruplinger, Jill (and Eric) VanEps, Jason Otte, Damon and Leah Ruter, Jacob, Austin and Dalton Rambow; seven great-grandchildren: Hunter and Hannah Magnuson, Ally and Ava Zwagerman, Carter and MacKenzie Ruplinger, Kylee VanEps; two brothers: Melvin Skoglund of Apple Valley and Harlan (and Kathy) Skoglund of Eagan; a sister-in-law: Helen Skoglund of Columbia Heights, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Henry in June 2011; a sister: Irene Skoglund in 1985; and a brother: Chester Skoglund in September 2012.
