Minnie C. Strey, age 99, of Svea, died Thursday evening, December 7, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 11, at Svea Lutheran Church with Rev. Todd Lynum officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Minnie Caroline Strey was born May 29, 1907, in Winfield Township, Renville County, the daughter of George and Antje (Folkerts) Seehusen. She grew up and attended country school in Winfield Township and was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. On December 11, 1929, she married Fred J. Strey in Renville. They lived and farmed near Danube until 1942, when they moved to a farm west of Svea. In 1965, they retired from farming and moved into Svea. Minnie was a member of Svea Lutheran Church and was active in various women's groups. She enjoyed baking, gardening, reading and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter: Darlene (and Delvin) Lindblad of Svea; a daughter-in-law: Delores Strey of Willmar; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Fred in 1978; a son: Dennis in 1981; a grandson: Daryn; seven brothers and five sisters.
