Muriel D. Zilch, age 88, of Willmar, died Wednesday evening, October 28th, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 2, at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. The interment will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the P.W.C. at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar.
Muriel Duaine Zilch was born on October 23, 1921 in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Melvin and Myrtle (Edman) Nordin. She was baptized and confirmed at First Covenant Church and she received her education in Willmar schools, graduating from Willmar High School in 1939. Muriel worked as a dental assistant for Dr. O. E. Hedin and later worked at Elkjer's Photo Studio. She was active in her church and was a Sunday School teacher and a choir member at First Covenant Church. On May 1, 1942, she was married to Harlie Sands. Harlie was killed in action over Germany in 1944. On May 16, 1946, she was married to Donald Zilch and they made their home in Willmar. As a member of First Presbyterian Church she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the P.W.C. women's group, and a Cub Scout den mother. She also made many banners and decorations for the church.
Muriel is survived by a son, John "Jack" (and Debbie) Zilch of Eden Prairie; a daughter, Ann (and Jim) Koch of Spicer; a grandson, Andrew (and Abby) Zilch of West Hollywood, California; a great-granddaughter, Quincy Zilch; two brothers, Wayne (and Pat) Nordin of Camarillo, California, and Douglas (and LaDon) Nordin of Willmar, Minnesota ; a sister, Maxine Scott of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; an infant son; two brothers, Alvis Nordin and Lowell Nordin; and two sisters in early childhood, Lorraine Nordin and Elaine Nordin.
