Myrtle V. Caskey, age 104, of Willmar, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 6, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. www.petersonbrothers.com
Myrtle Vivian Caskey was born on August 9, 1917, in Dickenson County, near Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Zella (Hicklin) Bentley. The family later moved to Jackson, Minnesota where she grew up and received her education. During her teenage years, Myrtle cleaned homes. On August 19, 1937, she was married to Roy Edwin Caskey. They made their home near Mountain Lake until 1940 when they moved to the Raymond area. In 1972, they moved to Lake Andrew when they attended Crossroads Community Church near Spicer. Myrtle worked as a nurses aide at Bethesda for over 17 years. She also assisted with farm duties, painted and hung wallpaper for many folks and kept the books for Roy’s field drainage business. Myrtle and Roy spent many winters down in Texas and enjoyed being close to family.
She is survived by her children, Janice (and Kenneth) Johns of Belview, NE., David Caskey (and special friend, Linda) of Buffalo, Darwin Caskey of Appleton, Michael Caskey (and special friend, Judy) of Pennock and LeAnn (and Kevin) Navratil of Mission, TX.; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, besides many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy in 2010; one grandson, Bradley Johns; daughters-in-law, Karen and Connie; and sisters, Marjorie, Ruth and Madge.
