Myrtle Mahn

Myrtle E. Mahn, age 92, of Atwater, died Saturday morning, October 24, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, at St. John Lutheran Church near Atwater. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home in Atwater and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Myrtle E. Mahn was born on January 23, 1923, in Harvey Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, the daughter of Otto and Ida (Rosenow) Holtz. She grew up in the rural Litchfield community and received her education from the District #71 School in Harvey Township. On October 9, 1947, in Forest City, Minnesota, Myrtle was united in marriage to Marvin J. Mahn. They lived and farmed north of Atwater for many years and in 1981, moved into Atwater. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church and was active with ladies aide, serving as treasurer for a number of years. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, growing vegetable and flowers gardens and playing card games. She was also an avid sports fan, especially the Minnesota Twins.

She is survived by two sons, Lloyd (and Kathy) Mahn of Atwater and Brian Mahn of Atwater; two daughters, Marilyn (and Harold) Lundin of Litchfield and Ardis (and Dan) Denn of Lake City; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Otto "Babe" Holtz of Burnsville; one daughter-in-law, Lois (and Loren) Engelby of Atwater; one son-in-law, Dale Harbarth of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews; besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin in 2013; one son, Lyle in 2002; one daughter, Lilas in 2006; three brothers, Ben, Robert and her twin, Albert; and one sister in infancy, Addie.
