Nathan D. Schow, age 58, of Blomkest, died Thursday, March 13, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at the Church of St. Mary and one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar (www.petersonbrothers.com).
Nathan Dean Schow was born February 23, 1956, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Betty (Larsen) Schow. At age 5, he moved to the family farm near Blomkest. He graduated from Willmar High School in 1974. On July 30, 1977, he married Kristy Ebner at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. They made their home in Blomkest, where Nathan farmed with his father and brother.
Nathan loved farming and would even watch others farm when he wasn't working. He was an innovative farmer and enjoyed trying new ideas. He was also a handy man and carpenter and could fix anything. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was always friendly and kindhearted and would help or visit with anyone. His greatest love was his family and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Nathan is survived by his wife, Kris of Blomkest; two daughters, Heidi (and Dale) Maus of Richmond and Katie (and Trevin) Youngren of Pennock; three grandchildren, Lauren Maus, Kendra Youngren and Drew Youngren; his mother, Betty Schow of Willmar; a brother, Reggie (and Peggy) Schow of Blomkest; a brother-in-law, Jeff Duke of Spicer; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and a sister, Renee Duke.
