Neil Arthur Christensen

Neil A. Christensen, age 64, of Benson and formerly of Atwater, passed away Thursday evening, December 26, at Cura of Willmar.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, at Harrison Community Presbyterian Church.  Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Neil Arthur Christensen was born on May 14, 1960, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Norman and Carolyn (Fuchs) Christensen. He grew up on a farm and received his education in the Atwater community.

Neil lived in several group homes before moving to Benson where he resided for the past 46 years. Neil loved the farm life, especially animals, tractors and farm machinery. He also loved music and sharing his "infectious" smile when interacting with people. While living in Benson, Neil, along with his roommates, experienced multiple activities; attended church services, dances, bowling, swimming, going-out-to-eat. He had the opportunity to work at the Swift County DAC and was also fortunate to have enjoyed a trip to Branson several years ago.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn of Atwater; seven brothers, Lyle (and Peggy) of Morris, Peter (and Joyce) of Lakeville, Gordon (and Vicky) of Atwater, LeRoy (and Sandy) of Atwater, Clayton (and Lynne) of Atwater, Mark (and Kim) of Dolores, Colorado, and Douglas (and Nancy) of Spicer; besides numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman in 2003.
