Neil Duane Forsberg, 86, of Atwater, died Monday morning, February 25, at Golden Living Center in Olivia.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, at St. John Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be in the church cemetery, Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangments are with Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.
Neil Duane Forsberg was born on August 24, 1926, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Victor J. and Lulu Mae (Lemon) Forsberg. He grew up and received his education in the Willmar community. In 1943, Neil enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for over 20 years as a Medic. In 1950, Neil was married to Patsy Cleo Wright. They lived in California. She died in 1958 during childbirth. On August 19, 1968, at St. John Lutheran Church, Neil was married to Adeline Mae Norberg and they made their home in the Atwater Community. Neil was employed by Holm Brothers of Atwater for many years and retired in 1991. Adeline died in 1994. Throughout his life, Neil was known to be a "Jack of all Trades...". He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, sunsets and working in his yard and garden. Since January of 2010, Neil has resided at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
He is survived by his three children, Linda (and Gary) Ketteler of Bluffton, South Carolina, David (and Pam) Forsberg of St. James and Cindy Robert of Marshall; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Vicky (and Lloyd) Kragenbring of Wisconsin, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and both of his wives.
