Nola Wicklund

Nola Joy Wicklund, age 81, of Willmar, died Monday morning, November 28, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 2, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar followed by the interment at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nola was born September 4, 1935, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Frances (Saenger) Robbs. She grew up and received her education in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School. On May 30, 1954, she married Marlin Wicklund and they started their family in Willmar. In 1957, they moved to Brainerd and Nola worked at Montgomery Ward. In 1969, they moved to Pine River, where they continued to raise their family and Nola worked at Silbaugh's Department Store. They returned to Willmar in 1995 to enjoy their retirement.

Nola was gifted in sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch and needlepoint. She shared her talents with her customers, while working in the crafts department at Silbaugh's. She enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines while living in Pine River. Nola also enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. Her greatest joy in life was her family, with whom she shared her generosity, compassion and love.

She is survived by her four children, Barret (and Harriet) Wicklund of Fergus Falls, Bennet (and Linda) Wicklund of Brainerd, Jason (and Karen) Wicklund of Warrenton, VA, and Marla (and Tom) Wicklund-Storlien of Webster, SD; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Schow of Willmar; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marlin in 2000.
