Norman J. Bier, 73, of Spicer, died Tuesday, September 4, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 7, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. (www.petersonbrothers.com)
Norman J. Bier was born on June 20, 1939, on the family farm near Medina, North Dakota. He grew up and received his education in the Medina community. On March 20, 1960, Norman was united in marriage to Genevieve A. Ford. They lived in North Dakota, Starbuck and in 1976, moved to Spicer. He has been employed in the dairy industry for over 38 years as a dairy truck driver, retiring in 2010 from Marigold Foods, Inc. Since 1986, Norman has also owned and operated Classy Deals Auto Sales in Spicer. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling, and family time.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve of Spicer; two children, Cheryl (and Scott) Dahlbeck of Spicer and Craig (and JoAnne) Bier of Mitchell, SD.; four grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Ashley and Jasmine and one great granddaughter, Nevaeh. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty (and Gary) Hastings of Bismark, ND., and Gloria (and James) Olson of Moorhead, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald; one sister, LaVerne and a niece, Kerry Bier.
