Olga Viola Ruter, 94, of Eagan, formerly of Willmar, died Thursday evening, July 19, at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice ( 7200 Hudson Blvd., Suite 230 , Oakdale, MN 55128 ) or theTransitional Care Unit at the Minnesota Masonic Home (11501 Masonic Home Drive, Bloomington, MN 55437). Olga was born April 8, 1918 in Tracy, Minnesota, the daughter of Elmer and Emma (Stai) Rude. She was baptized in Tracy and moved with her family to Willmar at a young age. She received her education in the Willmar schools and was confirmed at Vinje Lutheran Church. On April 2, 1937, she married John Ruter in Watertown, South Dakota. They lived in Willmar, where Olga worked at Erickson Furniture for 30 years. In 1997, Olga moved to Eagan and she most recently resided at the Rivers in Burnsville. Olga enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and watching Jeopardy.
She is survived by a son: John (and Paula) Ruter of Safety Harbor, FL; three daughters: Janet Gravel of Eagan, Katherine (and Lyndon) Sonju of Golden Valley, and Arlene (and Terry) Pooley of Janesville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: John in 1996; a son: Gerald Ruter; a daughter: Karen Holm; a son-in-law: Michael Gravel; three brothers; and four sisters.
