Olive "Ollie" Mae Stuhr, age 78, of Willmar, died Sunday evening, February 7, at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 13, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. A spring interment will be held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Pennock. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 12, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Olive was born September 27, 1931, in Olivia to Dick and Clara (Morgan) Empey. She grew up in the Olivia community and graduated from Olivia High School in 1949. She attended St. Cloud State Teachers College where she received her elementary teaching degree. Following her graduation, she taught elementary grades for 6 years.
On August 5, 1952, she married Dale Stuhr in Olivia. In 1957, they purchased a business in Willmar and moved to a hobby farm five miles west of Willmar. After 41 years on the farm, they moved into Willmar. Ollie worked at various stores and in 1971 became employed at the Wonder-Hostess Thrift Store. She retired from Wonder-Hostess in April 1994.
Ollie was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Pennock. She was a member and an officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. She was also a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries. She enjoyed being with family and friends, gardening, and attending and working at the KRA Speedway.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Stuhr of Willmar; a daughter, Renee (and Dale) Manderscheid of Hutchinson; two grandchildren; a sister, Jane (and Tom) Duffy of Minneapolis and other relatives and friends. Olive was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Mert.
