Paris N. Johnson, age 56, of Willmar, Minnesota died Sunday morning, Aug. 11, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held in at the Friendship Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Saturday, August 17, at Noon. Interment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Paris Nathaniel Johnson was born on October 27, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Ivory Johnson and Charles Mitchell. He grew up and received his education in Colorado Springs and in 1975 enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, Paris was employed in construction in the Colorado Springs area. In 2000, he moved to Willmar, Minnesota.
Paris enjoyed drawing, writing poetry, music and riding his bike. His favorite daily pleasure was to read the newspaper while enjoying a cup of coffee.
He is survived by his mother, Ivory Mitchell of Aurora, CO.; one daughter, Latonia (Don) Barbour of Sioux Falls, SD.; five grandchildren, George, Zakiya, Devonte, Dontavius & Jacari; one brother, Charles Eric Mitchell (Stacey) of Aurora, CO.; and two sisters, Lucille Johnson (Robert) of Denver, CO., and Nichole West (Lee) of Aurora, CO. He is also survived by three aunts: Mrs. Mary F. Leake, Mrs. Gean Armstead, and Mrs. Dorothy Patterson.
He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, many, many cousins, as well as friends and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his life partner, Tammy Larsen, and his stepfather, Charles Mitchell.
