Patricia Ann Johnson nee Kappes was born on May 14, 1947, in Little Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Hortsch) Kappes. She grew up in St. Cloud, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965 and then attended St. Cloud Beauty College. From there, Patty established her life-long career meeting the hairstyling needs of many. She owned the salon, Hair on First, in Spicer with her friends, Judy and Mary Kay, for 30 years. Patty loved her work and it showed in her close relationships with her clients.
On December 17, 1970, Patricia was united in marriage to her soulmate, Michael A. Johnson, and they made their home on Henderson Lake in Spicer. They spent their married life devoted to one another and sharing their passion for camping, hiking, traveling and cooking. Patty and Mike cared for many pets throughout their marriage, including their Cockatiel (of whom Patty took such good car for, that he lived well beyond his life expectancy - up to 28 years).
Patty's greatest joy of all was her and Mike's beloved son, Spencer. Patty was extremely proud of Spencer's many talents, his kind spirit and his beautiful little girl, Indiana (born August 24, 2010). She spoke so fondly of her son and granddaughter to all of her clients, family and friends.
Patty's excellent sense of humor, her caring nature and her abundant love for life will never be forgotten and she will be sorely missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Michael of Spicer; her son, Spencer and granddaughter, Indiana of New London. Also surviving are four siblings, Kenneth (and Margie) Kappes of West Battle Lake, Robert Kappes of West Battle Lake/Sartell, Mary Kappes of St. Cloud and Michael (and Jannie) Kappes of Grey Eagle, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
