Quentin Hedley Norine was born April 3, 1920 near Rapelje, Montana at the home of his parents, Emil and Emma (Carlson) Norine. He was five years old when his parents moved back to Minnesota. He attended school in Districts 79 and 39. He farmed with his parents north of Lake Lillian until 1944. On April 20, 1944 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Carroll in Kandiyohi. They had four sons: Steven, Jerome, Jon, and Stanley. After renting his parents' farm for three years, they bought a farm and moved there March 1, 1947. After retiring from farming, he helped his son, Jon with the farming. They lived on the farm 47 years, moving to Willmar in 1994. Quentin was baptized in Montana and confirmed at Oak Park Methodist Church, rural Willmar and was a member there for many years until the church closed. After moving to Willmar he joined First Covenant Church. Quentin accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a young boy, and he always had a strong faith. Over the years he was active in church activities. He was a member of Kandy-o-hi-lo mens chorus for some time. He also was a member of the Willmar Senior Citizens Club. He enjoyed singing, playing organ and accordion. He liked to bowl, and took up golfing at age 73 and played until age 88, when his health failed. He enjoyed winters at their place in Arizona for ten years. He liked to travel and took trips to Ireland, Hawaii, and many parts of the United States and Canada. He loved spending time with his family including four sons, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His family was a vital part of his life. He was always there when needed, whether for friends or family. He will be greatly missed.
