Ramon Rivera Jr

Ramon Rivera, Jr. age 45, of Willmar died Saturday morning at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, July 2, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. The interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. (www.petersonbrothers.com)

Ramon Rivera, Jr. was born in Decatur, Indiana, on August 12, 1968, the son of Juanita (Villareal) and Ramon Rivera, Sr.. He grew up in the Weslaco, Texas area and received his education there. On February 7, 1987 he was married to Deborah Trevino in Elsa, Texas and they made their home in Willmar, Minnesota. Here they worked in the Willmar area doing field work and Ramon later went to work at Southern Minnesota Beet Plant in Renville as an assistant in the field research department. He worked there until he retired due to his health. Ramon loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was always there when someone needed a helping hand. Ramon enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, taking selfies with his daughter and attending mass at St. Mary's.

He is survived by his parents, Juanita and Ramon Rivera, Sr. of Willmar; his wife Cheryl deCathelineau of Willmar and her two sons, Nick and Carlton Eliason and her two daughters, Asley and Kayla Eliason; his two sons, Ramon (and Perla) Rivera, III of Willmar and Ramiro Rivera of Pennock and his daughter, Sylvestra Rivera at home with her mother, Deborah Volkenant in Pennock. Also surviving are four brothers; Amado (and Mary) Rivera of Weslaco, TX, Juan Rivera of Willmar, Eduardo (and Hillary) Rivera of Holland, MI and Ramoiro Rivera of Willmar and two sisters; San Juanita Rivera of Willmar and Sylvia (and Victor) Porras of Weslaco, TX, besides other relatives and friends.

Ramon was preceded in death by a special aunt, Sylvestra Rivera.
