Raul L. Renteria, age 80, of Willmar, died Monday morning, June 4, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park in Willmar. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home (www.petersonbrothers.com) in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Raul Leonardo Renteria was born June 8, 1931, in Houston, Texas to Jose and Pauline (Laesano) Renteria. He grew up and received his education in Houston. He left school at an early age after his father became ill to help tend to the family farm, where they grew corn, spinach and cotton. In the late 1950s, he moved to Willmar. In November 1963, he married Carmen Quiroz. Raul worked at Chappell Duct and later as a mechanic at Town and Country Motors for over 25 years. He was hardworking, honest and kind. Raul loved to fix things, have coffee with the guys at Cash Wise and especially loved his pets.
He is survived by his wife: Carmen; their children: Thomas (and Michelle) Renteria of Willmar and Gina Renteria of San Francisco, CA; his children from a previous marriage: Raul Renteria of Dallas, TX and Richard, Joe and Yolanda Renteria, all of Austin, TX; several grandchildren, including: Jaydon & Jacob Renteria of Willmar; two sisters: Doris Renteria of Austin, TX and Mary Munoz of Leander, TX; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Vincente Renteria; and four sisters: Margaret Torres, Lupe Castro, Sophia Mendoza and Louisa Martinez.
