Raymond H. Sutton, age 91, of Willmar, passed away Dec. 3, at Bethesda Grand Nursing Home in Willmar.
A private family service was held at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home with interment at the Green Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Raymond Harvey Sutton was born on October 8, 1929, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Frank and Mary (Kirchmier) Sutton. He grew up and received his education in Norfolk and began attending college. In 1950, Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant, stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. On January 14, 1951, Raymond was united in marriage to Eunice Knutson in Yuma, Arizona. They lived in California, Maryland and then in various cities throughout the upper mid-west. In the early years of his career, Ray was employed by oil companies and then began working for the General Motors Corporation. In 1989, Ray retired after 25 years of service with General Motors Corporation. In 2010, they moved to Willmar.
Ray enjoyed the latest and greatest gadgets/products that came to the market. He loved to going to parades and local events, listening to music, traveling, watching detective shows and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice of Willmar; three children, Adrienne “Reeny” (and Dale) Thompson of Princeton, Mariana (and Monty) Schunk of Burnsville and Jefray (and Holly) Sutton of Burnsville; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Norman Capistran of North Carolina, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Linwood; two sisters, Katherine Capistran and Frances Mottram; and one granddaughter, Anarae Schunk.
