Richard Dold

November 10, 1942 — January 20, 2013

Richard "Dick" M. Dold, age 70, of rural Spicer, died Sunday, January 20, at his home following an extended illness with A.L.S.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 25, at First Baptist Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com

Richard "Dick" Marvin Dold was born on November 10, 1942, in Melrose, Minnesota, the son of John and Lucille (Birdsell) Dold. Dick grew up in Sauk Centre, graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1961 and later from Winona State College. He was employed at the St. Cloud and Sauk Centre Correction facilities. On September 6, 1997, Dick was united in marriage to Colleen Renae Gauer and they made their home in Spicer. He faithfully attended the First Baptist Church in Willmar.

Dick's passions included deer and pheasant hunting, crappie fishing, hiking and traveling. Dick and Colleen made numerous trips to the Rocky Mountain National Park where they enjoyed hiking and sight seeing as well as vacations to Florida. He was a muscle car enthusiast that enjoyed attending local car shows and drag races at the Brainerd International Raceway. Dick loved history and had the highest regard for the W.W.II era and its veterans. He valued education and hard work.

He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen of Spicer; two daughters, Nancy Dold of Clear Lake and Mindy (and Matt) Seminitis of Cold Spring; four grandchildren, Logan, Aidan, Lukas and Bayley and two brothers, Jerry (and Karlie) Dold, of Sun Lakes Arizona and Jack Dold of Baltimore, Maryland, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Dold.
