Richard E. Emberland, age 62, of Champlin, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 7, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, September 10, at the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar, Minnesota. Military Honors will be provided by the Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post 167 of Willmar. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Richard Eldon Emberland was born on November 13, 1948 in Willmar, the son of Eleanor (Skare) and Severin Emberland. He grew up in Willmar and received his education. He served in US Army, being deployed for 15 months in 1967-68 to Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star with V device for Valor and other decorations for his service. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and V.F.W.
He is survived by one son; Adam Emberland of Champlin, four brothers; Roy (and Sandy) Emberland of Thousand Oaks, CA, Gayle (and Beverly) Emberland of Fairfield Glades, TN, Wayne (and Lynette) Emberland of Willmar and Donald (and Mary) Emberland of Maple Grove and one sister; Diane (and Mike) Vosika of Willmar. Also surviving is Adam's mother; Patricia Ashley of Finlayson, sister-in-law, Karen (and Mike) McManimen of Charlotte, NC, and many nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Emberland.
