Richard P. Gorres, age 75, of Willmar, died Thursday evening, September 19, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar after a four year battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Richard Peter Gorres was born on November 5, 1943, in Springfield, Minnesota, the son of Clifford and Joyce (Wenisch) Gorres. He grew up on a farm, graduated from Sanborn High School in 1961 and attended the Willmar Vo-Tech electronics program. On August 4, 1962, in Sleepy Eye, Richard was united in marriage to Charlotte Ann Strate and they made their home in Willmar. Richard was employed for 19 years at Team Electronics and then for 27 years at Swanson Equipment, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Church of St. Mary. Richard’s hobbies included fishing, snowmobiling, traveling across the United States and Europe and solving crossword puzzles. He was an avid wrestling fan and cherished attending all his grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; four children, Cathy (and Tom) Dahl of Kerkhoven, Robert Gorres of Cosmos, Paul Gorres of Willmar and Carol (and Eric) Tollefson of Sunburg; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a son-in-law, Randy Smith of Atwater. Also surviving is his mother, Joyce Gorres of Willmar; and five brothers, Ronald (and Joan) Gorres of Murdock, Roger (and Mary) Gorres of Mesa, AZ., Charles (and Anne) Gorres of Cold Spring, Loren (and Linda) Gorres of Willmar and Randy (and Paula) Gorres of New Hampton, IA., besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Christine in 2016.
