Richard J. Lindbloom, 86, of Willmar, died Thursday, February 11, at Rice Care Center in Willmar.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. Military Honors will be provided by Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post 167 of Willmar and Finstad-Week V.F.W. Post 1639 of Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Richard John Lindbloom was born on July 14, 1923, in Pierre, South Dakota, to Peter and Alice (Michaelson) Lindbloom. He grew up and received his education in Pierre and graduated from Pierre High School. On March 10, 1945, he married Julia "Judy" Hendrickson. Richard served in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II and in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. Richard and Julia lived in Pierre for a few years and in various Minnesota communities, where Richard worked in construction. In 1960, they moved to Willmar. Richard worked as office manager and as manager of the ready mix operation for Central States Construction Company, which later became Central Allied Enterprises. He retired in 1993. Richard was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church, the Sharon Masonic Lodge, the Concrete Pavers Association Board of Minnesota and the Chamber of Commerce Board for three years. He was also a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his children: R. Michael (and Barbara) Lindbloom of Park City, Utah, David (and Lisa) Lindbloom of Sartell, Minnesota, and Patricia (and Robert) Thrush of River Falls, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister: Eunice Cory of Pierre, South Dakota; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy in 2008; a brother: Norman Lindbloom and a sister: Lucille.
